WAIW in the classroom

Where Am I Wearing? in your class

Where Am I Wearing? started as my journey, but since the book came out it has become about our journey: consumers and companies, teachers and students. WAIW has found its way into a wide array of  high school and college courses including sociology courses at Rutgers, Carnegie-Mellon, and Colorado State, business courses at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, California State, and the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, and Anthropology courses at Ball State and Wingate to name a few.

To help you guide your students on the WAIW journey, I’ve created and compiled the following:

The Official WAIW Discussion/Activity Guide (Thanks for the help Professor Nancy Bush at Wingate U!)

116 questions to engage your students, 8 activities to link them with the world.

A graphic-intense introduction to thinking about our place in the global market. I recommend using this as you embark on the WAIW journey and reviewing it again at the end.

100-question discussion guide created by Granada Hills Charter High School for AP Human Geography 2011 (PDF)

Great questions for test or quizzes to make sure your students are doing the work and getting the basic concepts.

If you’re looking for images, textures, and faces to add depth to your journey this is the place to do it.

West Texas A&M University Resources for WAIW

Self-Assessment for WAIW: Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV, Part V. Essay questions to inspire discussion and deeper reflection.

If you are interested in developing a service learning project related to the book, please email me (kelsey@kelseytimmerman.com) and I’ll help you brainstorm and/or connect you with folks who’ve done so in the past.  Also, here’s a great a great resource my friends at Indiana Campus Compact produced that I think you’ll find useful – Charting the Course for Service-Learning
